Welcome to another episode of MIKE’d UP MARCHEV. I was driving to the Albany airport on my way to a speaking assignment I had in Orlando the following day. I was in the car on route around 5 PM Friday evening and that is when I wanted to pass on to my graphic artist the final edits of an advertisement we were working on. I left a voicemail with the edits hoping that I’d have some kind of information back early the following week.
When I parked the car, checked in and went to my gate, those final edits were already completed. It was 5:45 PM on Friday night. And that’s when the word relationship came home to roost.
You will be judged on how quickly you return phone calls, emails, and written communications by your clients and prospects. Most everybody I know would’ve postponed this assignment until after the weekend was completed. After all, it was Friday evening at 5 PM. Apparently, the relationship I have with my graphic artist is fine-tuned and respected at both ends. When I call, I get an immediate response. And that is exactly the reputation you want to establish with your clients starting ASAP.
